Payroll Service - Minimum Wage

Payroll Service Update

From October 1st 2010 the National Minimum Wage will increase.

There are currently 3 levels of National Minimum Wage for adults and from October 2010 rates will be as follows

  1.  for 16-17 year olds - £3.64 minimum per hour
  2.  for 18-21 year olds - £4.92 minimum per hour
  3.  for over 21 year olds - £5.93 minimum per hour

A new apprentice rate of £2.50 will be introduced from October 2010 for any apprentice aged 19 0r over in the first year of an apprenticeship and anyone under 19.

There is also a development rate of £4.77 per hour for employees aged 18-21 starting work with a new employer and  doing a UK Government approved training course to achieve a vocational qualification.

Employees who are 22 or over can recive the development rate for  the first 6 months of employment.

There are severe penalties for employers who breach minimum wage legislation.

Our Payroll Service ensures that you comply with the legislation and is regularly updated in line with HMRC approval.
